The Resurgence Gear Story: Why We Went Back to the Fibre
In short: Resurgence Gear is a Canadian motorcycle apparel brand built around PEKEV®, a patented protective fibre based on UHMWPE. Our garments are certified to EN 17092 in the two highest classes, AA and AAA, and from the 2027 collection every garment ships with RE ZRO® Flat Level 2 protectors.
Resurgence Gear did not start as a motorcycle brand. It started with a problem: motorcycle clothing was either safe or wearable, but rarely both. Lined jeans were stiff and heavy. Single-layer fabrics were not strong enough. Nothing protected you on the bike and still looked right everywhere after.
So we went back to the fibre.
A decade of research, one breakthrough
Resurgence Gear is a Canadian brand, and it started with years of research into protective fibres and spinning techniques. Materials that failed. Materials that almost worked. And eventually one that did what we needed.
We called it PEKEV®.

What PEKEV® is
PEKEV® is a patented protective fibre based on UHMWPE, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene, one of the strongest polymers ever developed. Through our own spinning and weaving processes, it becomes a fabric that can be built directly into everyday clothing.
- Abrasion resistance: UHMWPE in solid form is up to 15 times more abrasion resistant than carbon steel.
- Permanent: the protection is in the fibre, not a coating, so it does not wash out, and it does not degrade when wet.
- Comfortable: it breathes and flexes, and in its lightest form it feels like regular fabric.
Today PEKEV® comes in five constructions, from a full protective lining to single-layer fabrics where the protection is the fabric itself:
- PEKEV®: full-length lining, used in the Cafe Racer Jeans
- PEKEV® Lite: a thinner lining for warmer days, used in the Warrior Jeans
- PEKEV® Ultra Lite: single-layer, used in the Kingston Shirt, Richmond Jacket and Adelaide Fieldjacket
- PEKEV® Flex: single-layer with stretch
- PEKEV® Titan: single-layer selvedge, used in the Klondike Jeans
From the fibre, everything else followed
The first product was a pair of motorcycle jeans. Then came the Cafe Racer, our selvedge riding jean and still one of our bestsellers. Then riding shirts, hoodies, waxed jackets, a rain system and a vest. A wardrobe for riders who don't want to look like they are wearing gear.
Our garments are certified to EN 17092, the European standard for motorcycle clothing, in the two highest classes, AA and AAA. If you want to know what these classes mean, read CE AA vs AAA Explained.
This is all we do
We don't make helmets. We don't make boots. We don't make gloves. We make motorcycle apparel (jeans, jackets, hoodies, shirts and vests) and we focus on making it as good as it can be. That focus is what got us here.
Next: better armour
From the 2027 collection, every Resurgence garment ships with RE ZRO® Flat Level 2 protectors. They are slim, flexible and ventilated, and they sit flat, so a jacket still looks like a jacket. Level 2 is the higher of the two protection levels for impact protectors, and it comes as standard.
Back home in Canada
Resurgence Gear is a Canadian brand. In recent years, however, Canadian riders had been underserved. That is changing. Moto Reloaded Gear Inc. in Victoria, British Columbia, is now the exclusive distributor of Resurgence Gear in North America and runs this store, customer service and the dealer network across Canada.
